Microsoft Office wakes up to the rest of the world!

Wow, how things have changed. A year or so ago, Microsoft wouldn't have been all that interested in cross-platform compatibility let alone cross-browser. And yet now they are making sure that Office Online services are, at least to a limited extent, cross-browser and cross-platform.
To quote them:

The Office Web Apps work with some of the most widely used browsers, and we officially support:
  • Internet Explorer 7 and 8
  • Firefox 3.5 on Windows, Mac and Linux
  • Safari 4 on Mac
Of course, that still leaves many enterprise users (IE6) and others (Google Chrome, etc.) with perhaps less than the best experience but it is certainly a good step forwards.
